Seeing as I had great fun making copies of the Amplidan I thought I might try my hand at a classic, I chose the Tillotson key below right, (picture sent to me by Tom Perera from his excellent website) however it wasn't until I started making the key that I realised that there are more variations of this key than you can wave a stick at! so my key will be a representation of the ones I've seen, to be honest it was the sort of Maltese cross base that attracted me to this one but there are others, I'm told these keys usually started life as leg keys and the bases were added later, also this will be a first attempt at a solid camel back arm, so far it has gone well the Maltese cross base is made and the fancy terminals and axle adjusters, the key has now been treated with an ageing agent to add a little Patina (above)) it still looks a bit modern but I think I may have captured a little of the vintage looks of this type of key, making copies or "look-a-likes" of vintage keys is a new ballgame for me, and I learnt a lot from this one, and a thank you to all the learned experts that I worried for information during the making  :()
