This is key 134, I often get the odd email enquiring about low profile, low angle, fingertip, or tapping keys as they are often known, a good low profile key is hard to find, the American J type is the standard but they are very light weight and their pin pivots are not the best way of pivoting a key, this key pushes the envelope as far as a low angle key goes, it oozes low angle :() the base is a slim piece of Delrin and the key itself is almost as wide as it is long for stability as low angle keys can be notoriously unstable, just adding a weighted base lifts the key from the operating surface which destroys the object of a low profile, in this key the pivot point which consists of quality 7mm ball races enclosed in circular support arms are kept very low down, allowing the arm of the key to drop flush with the base, also the knob is set into the arm not on top again to keep the profile as low as possible, otherwise it has all the hallmarks of a first class key, contacts in the nose, a weighted headstock balanced against the arm and knob, It has a fine lightly sprung action responsive and precise, a very nice fingertip key.. base size 140 by 85mm (Bigger than it looks) |
