This is key No 137 Yes it is yet another Amplidan "Look-a-like" I had an idea for a different bearing block to try out on this design, where ball races are a push fit into the block and held in place with a larger axle fitted to the main arm of the key, giving a heavier more solid fitting with no adjustments, having had the experience of building a few keys of this type progress has been quite rapid, the basic Amplidan action can be seen below left, note the domed contacts and brass leaf that the adjuster pushes against, I have really missed having an Amplidan project that I can play with, all the previous Amp projects were sold fairly quickly, so with this one I'm experimenting as I go, trying different springs and weighting etc, even though it isn't quite finished it has that Amp feel about it, the bearings have worked out very well, the main construction is now complete, a few minor adjustments the odd brass nut and bolt needs changing for plated types, and the steel plinth needs spraying, I say it every time but there is something magical in this particular long lever design. real fun to make and a lovely action. |
